'Tis the Season to Ho Ho Ho

This is post is part 2 of some events that have been organised across Glasgow and Ayrshire to help you all have yourself a merry little Christmas! If you missed my last post, check that out for some festive date ideas and Christmas night out inspiration!

For the Christmas Lovers – Christmas Markets in Glasgow, Kilmarnock and Edinburgh

  • While the iconic Christmas market in Glasgow's George Square has been cancelled this year, the smaller one at St Enoch’s Centre is still going ahead with popular stalls including Mrs Puller’s candied nuts and Belgian treats and the Ranch Bar from the George Square Market.
  • Running from 21st November to 23rd December.
  • Kilmarnock is hosting its very first Christmas market in the new St Marnock Square, including market stalls, street food and entertainment.
  • This market is only running on the 11th of December from 10am-4pm
  • Finally, if you’re keen on travelling a bit further afield for some festivities, my personal favourite has to be the Edinburgh Christmas Market, held in East Princes Street Gardens.
  • Edinburgh’s Christmas brings festive magic to the whole city centre, with additional attractions such as rides, a Christmas tree maze and Ice Skating dotted around the surrounding areas.
  • Running from 20th November – 4th January, with some date exceptions.

All the above Christmas markets are free to enter, but make sure to bring money if you want to purchase any crafts, food or a mulled wine (or three!) from the stalls. Please note that any extra attractions including rides are priced.

For the Families - Heads of Ayr Farm Park Santa’s Grotto

  • Running from the 20th November to 23rd December.
  • There are lots of Christmas Grotto events across Glasgow and Ayrshire, however I’m choosing to recommend this one to you all because of all the extras in place to ensure that visitors have the best festive experience possible!
  • Each child gets to meet Santa privately in his grotto and will also each receive their own gift.
  • Mrs Claus and the elves will also be there to tell the children stories, to help them with some Christmas colouring in and to write and post their very own letters to Santa!
  • You’ll also get the chance to meet a few of Santa’s animal friends in the Little Critters Animal barn, and there will also be access to the indoor play barn and drop slides, so there’s loads of other entertainment for the full family.
  • One of the main reasons I love this event is because they have Quiet Christmas and First Christmas Experiences as well – the Quiet Christmas are ASN events that are more relaxed, with adjusted lighting and sound and Santa can use Makaton during these sessions. The First Christmas sessions are for children aged 4 and under and there are loads of extras in place to make meeting Santa Claus a truly magical experience for the little ones.
Tickets are £6/£6.50 for adults, £6.50/£8 for under 2's and £12-£15 for children over 2, depending on visiting times!
