'Tis the Season to Get Spooky

This post is part 1 of 2 of some of the fang-tastic events to celebrate Halloween in and around Ayrshire and Glasgow. Another blog post highlighting even more local events will be uploaded soon!

For the Families – M&D’s Pumpkin Outdoor Festival 2021

  • Running from Saturday 9th of October until Sunday 31st October, selected dates and times.
  • There are several different pumpkin picking events around Glasgow but this one is my favourite for families due to the extras in place to ensure that visitors have the best Halloween experience possible.
  • Visitors can not only pick a pumpkin from the patch but also enjoy storytelling by Folksy Theatre, play the ‘Bash a Pumpkin’ game, and even ride the Pumpkin Express train!
  • There are also 2 ASN sessions for families with children who may need a wee bit of extra support during events like these, meaning everyone can join in on the fun.

Tickets are £8.50 (with a hot drink voucher, pumpkin not included) or £10.95 (pumpkin included) and little ones under 2 go free.

For the Spooks – The Kelburn Estate Haunted Forest: CULT

  • Running from Thursday 14th of October until Sunday 31st October, selected dates and times.
  • Kelburn Estate’s legendary Haunted Forest returns with its newest incarnation, Cult. The event is a semi-lit trail in the forest with a LOT of jump scares, which is why it is recommended for scare-seekers of 14+.
  • This event has always been raved about by those brave enough to visit and I myself can’t wait to go later this month for a serious fright-fest.
  • It’s important to dress from head to toe for the Scottish winter weather and because the trail is on rough ground with narrow passages and stairs, visitors are advised to consider any mobility restrictions they may have

Tickets are £13.50

I hope this gave you a bit of inspiration to make this Halloween memorable! I'll also be uploading a TikTok to the @tistheseason.wos account when I visit the Kelburn Estate Haunted Forest later this month so check that out for a more in-depth review.
